Summary

LOAN OFFICER POSITION

SUMMARY
This position builds new and enhances existing relationships with members and business owners.  Collaborates and advises members on finding the right solutions to meet their needs by recommending  consumer lending, credit cards, and deposit-related products, as well as other services.  Provide efficient, progressive, financial services and products to our member owners in agreement with the Credit Union’s philosophy. Responsibilities

  • Interacts with members, building and maintaining long-term relationships through use of listening, rapport-building, mentor phrasing and recognizing their future needs.

  • Identify members’ goals and help them improve their financial lives.

  • Balances the benefit to both the members and the credit union in all interactions.

  • Ability to hear, assimilate, and answer members’ inquiries and questions quickly, through phone, in person, online, and mail delivery channels.

  • Educate members about convenience service options such as online and mobile banking, remote deposit capture, BillPay, and e-statements.

  • Has a working knowledge of all deposit products, including but not limited to savings, checking, certificates, debit cards, IRAs, and money markets, opens and maintains deposit accounts.

  • Services as primary contact for new accounts and works to build relationships with all new members. Collaborates and advises members on finding the right solutions for their borrowing needs.

  • Has knowledge of all lending products and policies, compliance, and regulatory requirements. 

  • Gather information on loan applicants through the loan interview to accurately complete the loan application, then obtain and review credit reports for current loan request and look for additional opportunities. Process and underwrite loan requests including indirect dealer loan applications, create loan documents, complete loan closing, and disburse loans when approved or council member if denied.

  • Provides guidance on additional products like Guaranteed Asset Protection coverage and Debit Protection.

  • Able to handle confrontation and conflict situations, training/coaching to the philosophy that ‘with adversity comes opportunity,’ serving and embracing professional relationships both internally and externally

  • Assist with loan follow-up, such as obtaining current collateral insurance policies, releasing title vehicle liens, completing mortgage satisfactions, etc.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • High School diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent similar experience.

  • Two years of retail financial experience preferred. Previous customer service experience required.

  • Must enjoy working with people, be able to work as part of a team and be professional in appearance and disposition.

  • Accuracy and ability to operate computers, navigate multiple software programs and related office equipment as necessary.

  • Ability to adapt to changing job responsibilities quickly and effectively.

  • Must have the ability to exercise good judgment, problem-solving ability, work independently, prioritize workload, attention to detail, and work well under pressure while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.

  • Proficient in Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Suite of products.
