People helping people.
Sheboygan Area Credit Union (SACU) is a not-for-profit financial services organization owned by you, its member-owners. The money you deposit with us goes to help other members who need to borrow money.

History

Sheboygan Area Credit Union started as Sheboygan City Employees Credit Union in 1954 under the direction of Art Winscher. The first office was located at 607 Center Avenue and then moved down the street to 611 Center Avenue. In 1965, it was renamed to Sheboygan City and County Credit Union. We reached $1,000,000 in assets by 1971 and $3,000,000 by 1978.

Tragedy struck in 1973 when a fire and explosion destroyed the 611 Center Avenue office. A temporary office was set up in the old Central High School building. After this setback, SACU has been able to adapt well to the changing times.

We were able to open the first Share Draft account in 1979, and credit cards were offered 5 years later in 1984. Today, we offer a variety of services to our member-owners, including our website, mobile app, remote deposit capture, e-signature, and many other features.

Mission Statement

To provide efficient, progressive, financial services and products to our owner-members in agreement with the credit union philosophy.
